I’ve been telling myself that I need to wake up early and work out for weeks, but I haven’t done it.

The excuses are pretty simple: I don’t have enough time and my workout clothes aren’t ready yet.

But the more important question is why am I making excuses?

Why do we make excuses in the first place?

What’s really going on?

We all know how good it feels to be healthy and fit, so what’s stopping us from getting there?

It’s not too late though; let’s get motivated today!

How To Motivate Myself To Wake Up Early And Workout

Here are some tips to help you start your day off right:

I bet you’ve heard this one before, but the act of writing your goals down makes them much more likely to happen.1. Write it down

Write down what time you want to wake up and how long you want to workout for.

Make sure you keep your notes someplace where they will be visible every day, like your bedroom or bathroom.

Or leave some on your fridge for added encouragement.

Make a list of all the benefits you’ll get by working out regularly in the morning.  Let’s face it; if we can’t see what’s in it for us, something like waking up early to work out is nearly impossible.

2. Get some workout clothes ready the night before

There’s nothing more frustrating than having to wake up early to find matching socks and shoes, only to realize that they’re still dirty from yesterday! Also, if you change into them first thing in the morning, you’re more likely to work out.

3. Set some alarms for yourself

Make sure they stand out and mean something (e.g., your first alarm is a song that means a lot to you).

Use your notes as an excuse to set them; the more reminders, the better! That way, you can’t blame your alarm for waking you up.

4. Make a workout playlist

Make sure they’re songs that make you feel motivated and will give you the energy to finish strong!

5. Have some healthy snacks ready

This is an easy way to get in your daily intake of fruit and vegetables, without making it a complicated process.

I recommend pre-cutting some vegetables so they are easier to grab when you’re on the go.

6. Get a workout buddy

It’s much harder to make excuses when you have someone else counting on you. Having a partner will motivate you to work out consistently, so look for one today!

7. Try some new exercises every day

This is a great way to stay motivated since it will prevent your workouts from becoming repetitive.  It’s also an easy way to keep up your fitness level, so you can always stay ahead of the game.

8. Reward yourself for getting up early and working out every day

The best way to do this is by finding new ways to treat yourself! It could be a cupcake one day or a new workout clothes the next.

Do something that makes you feel really good about all of your hard work.  If you know that every day you get to treat yourself, then getting up early won’t seem so bad after all!

9. Check in with yourself often

Keep track of how many days in a row you’ve gotten up early and worked out.  Keep a chart somewhere in your house so you can see all the good things you’ve accomplished!

10. Think about how much better you’ll feel once you start this routine

Think about how good it feels when someone compliments your healthy habits.

If that’s not enough motivation, then try to remember how bad you’ll feel if you don’t do this for yourself!

11. Start small

Waking up early doesn’t have to mean waking up at 5 am. Waking up at 6 am instead might be more manageable for now, until it becomes a habit. Or try working out just one day a week in the beginning.

12. Be patient

Remember, Rome wasn’t built in a day. It’s going to take some time for this new habit to feel natural and easy, so don’t get discouraged!

13. Think about all the positive things you’ll accomplish by waking up early and working out every day

This will help motivate you until it becomes second nature.

14. Keep practicing

Once your old habits are broken, new ones will automatically take their place!
