We all know that in the winter season, it’s harder to lose weight. With holiday parties and office treats around every corner, it can be hard to resist temptation. Luckily I have some tips to help you stay on track this year!

Here are some tips for staying on track this winter season

• Eat a healthy breakfast! In order to stay full and satisfied during the day, it’s important to start out strong with a good breakfast. I recommend yogurt with some berries or oatmeal with fruit. Stick to these options rather than getting tempted by donuts in the break room!

• Keep a food journal! I know it might seem tedious to write down every piece of food you eat in a day, but it’s a great way to keep yourself accountable and stay on track. Just take ten minutes at the end of each night to think about what you ate, and then write it down in your journal.

• Be careful at holiday parties! These can be a great way to socialize and give you some fun memories, but they also tend to sneak in lots of extra calories. Try sticking with one or two cocktails instead of several, and stick with light beer or wine rather than full-proof options.

• Stick with low-calorie snacks! When it comes to parties and treats, it’s important to have a plan in place. I recommend sticking with vegetables like carrots or celery when you’re at the office party and making sure that your at-home treats are low-calorie so you don’t go overboard.

• Find fitness friends! Working out is always easier with buddies who will keep you accountable. If you have a workout buddy that likes going running in the mornings, organize a time to run together!

• Take advantage of your break from school or work! When school or work are out for winter break, it’s a perfect opportunity to take advantage of the free time to catch up on sleep and get ahead on work. If you can squeeze in some gym time while you’re off, that’s even better!

Winter usually means deals galore at stores, including deals on food! While this can be great for saving money, it can also lead to unnecessary splurges on fast food or junk food. When you’re tempted by these deals, just remember that it’s only temporary!

• Look for healthy coupons when you’re at the grocery store! This is a great way to save money without having to cut anything out of your diet.

• Use apps to your advantage! There are tons of great weight loss apps out there that make tracking your calories easier. I recommend MyFitnessPal for beginners, which you can use on both iPhone and Android.

• Set goals with rewards! After three weeks of sticking with your healthy eating habits, treat yourself to a manicure or bikini wax. This is a great way to stay motivated because you’ll be excited about the reward.

• Don’t rely on others! If it comes down to buying junk food or spending time with your family, always go for your family. You may have to give up that extra holiday cookie for now, but in the long run, you’ll benefit much more by keeping up your healthy habits.

The winter season can be a challenging time to stay on track with healthy eating and exercise, but there are plenty of ways to make it easier! The winter months should not stop you from losing the weight that you worked so hard for this year. I hope these tips help you in your journey!”
