Why am I so unlucky with money? Is it because I’m not working hard enough, or is there something else going on? Where’s the luck in my life? What can I do to change this and get a little luckier in my life?”
These are the questions that most of us face from time to time. We all wish we had more money, or that our luck with money would change for the better.
In this article, we will address these questions and provide some insight as to why we might be experiencing financial hardships.
We all experience some form of financial hardship, whether it be overcrowded living conditions, scarcity in food supply (or even the lack thereof), or not having enough money to put gas into your car. Throughout our lives, we all face some form of financial hardship.
Why Am I So Unlucky With Money?
Let’s explore a few possible reasons that might be behind this unfortunate circumstance:
- You may have come into a large sum of money and made a bad decision about how to use it.
- You may have tried to do too much at one time and not been able to produce the results you wanted.
- You might have some limiting beliefs about money and abundance, which are subconsciously sabotaging your efforts.
- You may be experiencing scarcity in multiple areas of your life simultaneously (i.e., health issues, relationship problems, etc.).
- You might be facing a difficult challenge right now, such as a major illness in the family or unemployment.
Your financial situation may be due to a combination of all of these reasons and more….
If you have come into a large sum of money recently, then it is human nature for you to want to spend it. If your expenditure far exceeds your income, then don’t be surprised if your financial situation takes a hit.
We all make bad decisions every once in a while (if not more often). Make sure you are spending your money on things that will provide value to your life, rather than just taking up space in your home or bank account.
If you have tried to achieve too much at one time, then you might want to take some time to slow down and focus your efforts on one area of your life at a time.
For example, if you are seeking a promotion at work, try to focus all of your energy on the promotion itself. If you have too many irons in the fire, then it will be difficult for any one of them to come to fruition.
If you have a limiting belief about money, then it is time that you took a deep look into your beliefs and see if any of them are holding you back from achieving the kind of success that you desire.
You might also consider making some changes in your life so that all areas of your life are in greater alignment. For example, if you are trying to work towards financial freedom, but your health is not where it should be (and this is preventing you from working towards your goal), then focus on getting healthy first.
When you accomplish that goal, then you can move forward with the next phase of life (i.e., financial freedom).
When you are faced with a difficult challenge in your life, such as a relationship breakup or a major illness in the family, then it is not uncommon for people to experience some sort of financial hardship.
This is because our emotions can have a significant influence on our finances. For example, if you lose your job due to the illness of a family member, then it is unlikely that you will be able to focus on your job search with any level of enthusiasm.
If you are finding it difficult to maintain your usual lifestyle, then take time for self-reflection and see if there might be any limiting beliefs at play here.
Why Do I Attract Bad Luck?
It is possible that your environment and situation in life played a part in leading you to the current outcome.
It is also possible that the weight of your bad luck causes a form of mental paralysis that prevents you from seeing new hope around you.
I know someone who became paralyzed with grief after the death of their child but then eventually found peace through therapy because they were able to come to terms with their loss.
Another possibility is that many people are just stuck at particular points in development due to past trauma or abuse issues. That could be why nothing good seems to happen even though one would have thought it was time for something better to come around.
It is important to explore all of these possibilities and find out why you may be experiencing such bad luck.
Is There Any Way To Change My Luck?
An easy first step is to look at your past beliefs that have acted as filters for all of the events in your life up until now. If you viewed many of these events with gratitude, then you are likely to attract more good luck into your life because your mind is attuned to seeing the good in people and circumstances.
On a deeper level, there are many different modalities of therapy that can help you unpack old emotional wounds so that it becomes easier for you to heal them. On an even deeper level, yoga classes can be helpful because most modern-day yoga practices come with spiritual components that will help you connect with something greater than yourself.
How Can I Increase My Income?
It’s helpful to begin by looking at your limiting beliefs about money and why you might have them. The truth is that we all have different belief systems and value systems. Hence, the way we make decisions regarding our finances varies from person to person. What works for someone else might not work for you because it does not align with your system of beliefs.
It is also helpful to look at why you think your current income level is not enough because this will give you some insight as to what might be limiting you from earning more money or seeing other opportunities that can help you earn more money.
If for example, your job makes you unhappy and it drains your energy and joy even though others would think it is an amazing job, then simply learning to be grateful for the work you do will help you see your job more positively.
On a deeper level, if it actually makes sense that you earn less than someone else because they might have more qualifications than you or experience in the field, then reflect on what skills and knowledge you can build on so that you can learn how to earn more money or find meaningful work.
Are you limiting yourself by not following your passion because of what others might think?
If so, then it’s important to explore this fear further.
It’s possible that deep down you know what your passions are and this is why you feel so sad and unfulfilled. You might think that pursuing something else would be a waste of time since you’ve already given up on your passion, but the truth is that it may not actually be too late to learn new skills or find additional training that can help you pursue your passion.
If there is something in particular that you feel called to do and it feels like a dream come true, then begin by taking small steps towards making the dream a reality. It’s important not to look at this as though it will take years or decades before anything happens because time is always shifting and when the time is right, the dream will become a reality.
One of my favorite songs called “Free My Soul” by Fearless Soul has an uplifting message.
You can listen to this song…
Will More Money Solve All Of My Problems In Life?
No. However, it will help you with many of your problems because money is one of the most influential resources that can open up doors for you and allow you to continue doing what you love.
Hence, if working on a project requires funding before it can be materialized, then having more money means that more opportunities become available to you.
On a deeper level, you might be feeling sad because you believe that money is the primary source of happiness. The truth is that there are many ways in which you can feel fulfilled in life and it’s important not to rely on something external for your well-being.
It’s helpful to reflect on what you need to let go of in order for you to be happy. Ask yourself are you are holding onto feelings of anger, resentment, sadness, fear, or grief that are not allowing you to be fully present to the beauty of life?
If so, then do something about it instead of letting these emotions prevent you from being open to opportunities that can help improve your quality of life.
You might be holding onto false beliefs that you need to keep struggling in order for your life to have meaning. On the other hand, many people feel happy right now regardless of their current circumstances because they are grateful for everything they have been blessed with instead of believing that life should be difficult or challenging all the time.
A core belief that many people are limited by is the belief that having money will make you happy. The truth is that it’s possible to feel fulfilled without an abundance of money.
Many people assume because they can’t pay their bills or have enough money for groceries that somehow this means there will be no hope in the future, but this isn’t true if you have faith in something greater than yourself.
One of my favorite quotes is by Mark Twain who said,
Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did.
This quote has resonated with me because life is short and it’s important to follow your dreams while there is still time.
The truth is that time is your most precious resource.
What are you doing with the limited hours each day? If you aren’t already following your dreams, then ask yourself why not?
There isn’t any guarantee that you will be able to do everything or accomplish everything that you want in life, but if it’s something that you really feel called to do then you should at least try. To some, that may mean starting small and taking baby steps such as writing out an action plan.
It’s important not to be discouraged if you’re not seeing immediate results because everything worth pursuing in life takes time and effort. A good first step is to pick up a book on money management to help you understand how to establish good financial habits.
