A tattoo is a form of body modification that involves inserting ink under the skin, either with a needle or an electric machine.

The word “tattoo” can refer to the design produced from this process and may have associated symbolism but it also has been used as a verb for any such action.

In many cultures, tattoos are not just limited to humans but include other animals like cows and horses. Tattoos have been in existence since ancient times among various civilizations around the world – it was practiced by people living on opposite sides of Earth during pre-history.

In some countries, soldiers are required to be entirely clean-shaven whereas others allow beards or even mustaches only if they do not obscure their mouth while speaking into a radio.

In US Army, tattoos are not allowed at all.

A tattoo is a permanent change to the body and therefore it can have a huge impact on your life if you later decide to join the military.

Although some people get tattoos with no problems in their service, there are still issues related to serving in the military with tattoos.

Why tattoo is not allowed in the army?

1. Tattoos are uniform violations in the army.

Because tattoos are visible on your skin, they can be considered uniform violations. For soldiers to blend together so they look uniform and professional, tattoos are not allowed. Let’s say that there are people who have tattoos that cannot be easily concealed — if these soldiers do not look uniform and professional, this is a problem.

2. Tattoos can be distracting to others in the army.

Tattoos can be distracting to others in the armed forces if they are too large or visible when performing their duties; therefore it would impact military readiness. For example, tactical tattoos such as skulls or skeletons with rifles can be distracting to others in the armed forces to see while performing their duties.

3. Tattoos have negative connotations.

Many tattoos have negative connotations like gang symbols or offensive images. The Army does not want soldiers displaying these types of images when they are on duty, especially if it could lead to violence against them by other people who recognize the negative images. Tattoos that show hate or violence may also impact morale and discipline in the troops and vulnerability to enemy propaganda.

4. Tattoos can be seen as unprofessional.

In a professional work environment, tattoos are not always considered professional and may make people less likely to want to hire you. The Army does not want its uniform to make soldiers seem less professional or impact their ability to get a job after they leave the military. You will need to cover up your tattoos when you are in uniform, if possible. If tattoos cannot be covered completely then there is no way around it; they will need to remain exposed and not hidden under clothing.

5. Tattoos can make people think you are a criminal or troublemaker.

Tattoos that display gang signs or symbols also have the unfortunate side effect of making people think that you are a troublemaker or criminal. This can be bad for soldiers for two reasons: it is possible to get in trouble with the law, and this negative image could impact your ability to get hired after you leave the military.

6. Tattoos can interfere with your job.

Even if you are not working in the public eye, tattoos may still be a problem for your civilian job after you leave the military. There are some jobs that simply do not allow visible tattoos because customers might object to them. Even if there is no objection from customers, tattoos can still make it more difficult to get hired in the first place, particularly for jobs where you will be required to meet with customers or clients frequently.

Are tattoos allowed in the US army?

Tattoos are allowed as long as they can be fully covered by your uniform and you do not have tattoos that show hate, violence, or obscene images/words. It prohibits any tattoos on the head, face, neck, wrist, hand, or above the t-shirt collar in any dress or combat uniform.
